The guild has several fund-raising activities each year to support its programs and community quilt projects.
Each year the Guild creates a quilt to raise money for Guild activities. Quilt lovers and Guild supporters can purchase tickets for a chance to win the lovely quilt. The winning ticket is selected at the end of the annual show, which is held at the Western North Carolina Ag Center in the Fall..
Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, or 12 for $10. Interested persons can purchase tickets at Guild meetings; some quilt shops and at the annual quilt show.
The quilt pictured to the left is our 2017 opportunity quilt named William Morris in Morocco. Roger Winchell, an AQG member, designed, made and quilted this beautiful quilt.
The quilt will be raffled off at the Quilt Show on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 4:30 pm. Winner does not have to be present to win.
The silent auction is a showcase for the Guild members’ creative talents and generosity. Guild members donate small “works of art” which are then bid on in a silent auction at the annual Quilt Show. All proceeds go toward our community quilt projects. This is an opportunity for Guild members to acquire items made by fellow Guild members and other show attendees and to go hoe with a quality piece. Guild members interested in contributing a quilt to the silent auction should complete this form:2017 Small Quilt Silent Auction Quilt Submission Form:
Some of the quilts donated in prior years are pictured below.
This is a new opportunity to involve the community in our fund-raising efforts. It consists of asking members of the community at large to partner with us by making donations in increments of $25 to support all the charitable work that we do in the community. In past years, the Guild has donated finished quilts to Project Linus, Mission Hospital, SECU Cancer Center, Brother Wolf, the NC State Veterans Home, MAHEC, Meals on Wheels, Steadfast House, and Habitat for Humanity. In addition to quilts, members have donated preemie hats to the NICU, pillows to the Care Partners Hospice, weighted blankets to Project Linus, and adult bibs and placemats to Meals on Wheels. We also offer activities to cancer patients and survivors at Camp Bluebird. Donors will be recognized as a partner of one of the hundreds of quilts the Asheville Quilt Guild donates every year to your community.
