Asheville Quilt Guild's Member Bees |
Member bees are open to all AQG members, but they are here especially to help encourage new members and beginning quilters. If you would like to meet or help new quilters, have questions about the Guild, are looking for volunteers for your committees, or just want a couple of hours of fun and fellowship with other quilters, then you are welcome.
Our main purpose is to bring people together in a fun and stress-free way to meet others, learn about our guild and share quilting knowledge. Hopefully, you and the people you meet will become lifetime quilting buddies.
Check out the following groups and plan to come to at least one of them. You are welcome at any or all of them. Bring a project you are currently working on, especially if you need help with it or advice on it. Don’t forget your Show and Tell!
Email AQG Member Bee Chairman (Member.Bees@AshevilleQuiltGuild.org) to get your questions answered.
The Beaucatcher Bee has been active since the 1980s and members of this bee were founding members of the Asheville Quilt Guild. Beaucatcher Bee welcomes everyone interested in quilting. We are probably best described as a social club with a quilting passion. We meet every Tuesday from 10:00am – noon and members can be found working on a variety of their personal needlecrafts including of course – quilts. We meet at the North Asheville Community Center 39 E. Larchmont Road (off Merrimon Avenue). Annual Community Center Fee applies $15 for Asheville City residence and $20 for residence outside of the city limits. Contact information available by emailing the AQG Member Bee Chairman (Member.Bees@AshevilleQuiltGuild.org).

The Phd Bee was formed in 2014 in the Weaverville area. The Bee meets twice a month in a member’s home on the 2nd Wednesday and the very last Wednesday of the month from 1 – 3 PM. We usually plan a few road trips each year and sometimes in lieu of a Bee we’ll have lunch or dinner out. Because we meet at a member’s home, membership is currently limited. Contact information available by emailing the AQG Member Bee Chairman (Member.Bees@AshevilleQuiltGuild.org).
The Linus Bee is an open bee that meets once a month on the first Friday from 1-3 pm to pin tops that we make at home for the Linus Project. This organization finds and gives the quilts to children who have gone through traumatic situations and need a special hug. The recent floods have caused them to meet temporarily at the Art Room at the Givens Highland Farms. Contact information available by emailing the AQG Member Bee Chairman (Member.Bees@AshevilleQuiltGuild.org).
Meets at the Fresh Market Cafe on Hendersonville Road (same plaza as Asheville Cotton), the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 9:30 to noon. We bring handwork, show and tell, and friendly conversation. It is a public bee and all are welcome!
