    “Speaky & Pike in the 21st Century”

    A workshop with Sharron Armel

     Inspired by this ordinary block, often found in 8-pointed stars, we’ll try several techniques that make it easier to do well, and a few arrangements of blocks in new quilt designs. 

    In class, we’ll launch some Flying Things, and then consider other ways to use this block creatively. 

           

     Fabrics to make a 40”x48” quilt top

    Tools & Notions

    60° ruler        / Eleanor Burns’ “Triangle in a Square” template set is ideal,
    4½”square ruler    \ but not the only way to make this work!
    straight ruler at least 8” long
    rotary cutter

    Optional: If you have a small cutting mat, or a small rotating cutting mat, you can cut at your sewing station and save a few trips to the cutting table.

    Extras of rulers and small mats will be available for you to borrow in class.

    Good Vibes Table Runner

    A workshop with Angie Lamoree


    Good Vibes Table Runner (6-hour class)

    Students will make a quarter of the table runner, which finishes as 18 x 66".

    Additional purchase of pattern @ $9.99 per student is required.

    Supply List:

    • Background fabric (wof): 1 1/3 YD for HST, QST and sashing

    Fabric in three intensities: i.e. 1/4 YD of light gray fabric 1/4 YD of medium gray fabric 1/2 YD of dark gray fabric (or any light, medium, and dark color you choose)

    • Kits are also available. *

    • Bloc Loc HST 2 1/2” ruler *

    • ruler for cutting strips *

    • cutting mat • rotary cutter *

    • mechanical pencil or Frixion pen *

    • sewing machine in good working order and extra needle

    • fine pins *

    • neutral soft gray thread *

    • Basic sewing supplies
