We did it! … and added so much color and texture for Transformation Village!
Transformation Village (TrV) is a new ABCCM facility for homeless women and their children. The first residents moved in in early 2021. The call went out to our Guild members for at least 40 wall quilts to adorn the walls of this new facility, and we came through with “flying colors”! On Friday March 19, 2021, AQG proudly presented TrV with 48 beautiful wall quilts of various styles, many with inspirational themes, all in the colors representing the phases of the TrV program. Those present were also given a mini quilt show as each quilt was displayed for the group. Many of the folks who created quilts also took a tour of this amazing facility and learned a lot more about the mission and programs of TrV from our knowledgeable tour guide. The tour included a look at the sewing room which was of great interest to the group! (FYI – Sewing classes for the residents began in April 2021. TrV welcomes volunteers who would like to share their expertise. This is not a Guild Project, but if you are interested in helping, please contact Guild member Greg Woods.)
Following the presentation of the quilts and the facility tours, Guild members left, and the new residents got to view the quilts and voted on their favorites. The top 5 Viewer’s Choice quilts were awarded prizes and will be hung in the sewing room and other public areas of the facility. The winners are:
Broken Promises, Shattered Dreams | Bloom! | Birdie Stitches | Walking towards the light |
