We have a new program!
Since the Quilt Show for 2024 had to be cancelled, no on has gotten the chance to view the quilts our members submitted for show. Please bring the quilts you had submitted to the Quilt Show to this meeting and be prepared to show us your handiwork. We will not be able to display them as we would have in the quilt show but we will show them as we do with the Show and Tell portion of our meeting. I am sorry but participation in this showing will be limited to Guild members only although anyone can attend the program. There will not be a general show and tell for this meeting.
REMINDER: Due to continuing construction at the AB Tech Conference Center, we will hold this meeting at The Ivy Bldg.

Finding Your Inner Artist by Julia Pfaff
What makes an art quilt? What makes art? The all important question we should be asking ourselves is what makes good art? Artist, quilter, and educator Julia E. Pfaff will discuss aspects of making art, making art in a quilt format, and observations of the art quilt movement. She will lend insights into her creative process and discuss how can we edit better and have the confidence to express your own ideas and use fabric in a way your mother would not have approved of.
With an undergraduate degree in art history and a MFA, Julia has been quilting her entire life and has successfully turned a family tradition into a contemporary art form. She is an educator and studio artist and teaches at both the community and college level. Her quilts have been exhibited extensively and can be found in numerous national collections and publications.
Drawing with Your Sewing Machine 1 day (for experienced sewers)
The simplest piece of fabric can be turned into beautiful and unique art through the addition of quilted lines. This fast-paced workshop introduces the various ways you can use your sewing machine to draw on fabric. Both free motion and conventional quilting methods will be explored. Participants will produce several samples during the class suitable for use as pillow tops. Methods of joining machine quilted blocks will also be demonstrated.
A supply list will be provided for participants.
This is a brief reminder, we cannot offer coffee or drinks at our new location but you are certainly welcome to bring your own. We will have a 30 minute break mid-day for much so pleae bring that too!
Registration for members will open on April 18, 2025

NTNT FPP No Tear, No Tear Foundation Paper Piecing A different take on foundation paper piecing. (Formerly known as Foundation-less Piecing): Using freezer paper as your pattern to create accurate points and seams. - No more tearing off paper- Reusable patterns pieces,- Accuracy (worth mentioning again)! -Pressing in the direction you want - And even more advantages With my method of Foundation Paper Piecing (NTNT FPP) those perfect points, arcs and spires are conquered. And best of all, with this technique you won’t be sewing through the paper, so there is no fighting to tear off the paper in the end, and the pattern is reuseable. We’ll take a look at color options and how to use lots of color or just a little color. Then we’ll use the NTNT FPP technique to sew your block. From there we’ll explore the variations in the pattern and each quilt block will be an original. This is a great technique to add to your toolbox. Foundation Paper Piecing using my NTNT FPP method makes some seemingly impossible blocks possible and fun.
Pattern Fee: $10.00
Please remember to bring your own drinks. We will have a 30 minute break for lunch so please bring that too!

Begin the day learning Jinny Beyer s theory of color. Paula created an easy tessellated cat paper foundation pattern to showcase your new skills and understanding of value, shading, and color!
Beginning with Color Confidence for Quilters and the Portable Palette by Jinny Beyer, learn about the use of color and then transfer that knowledge into a whimsical tessellated paper foundation pieced quilt of interlocking kitty cats.
Portable Palette by Jinny Beyer - optional (palettes will be available for use in class)
Fabric: Ah, the choices.... . This quilt block lends itself to at least four variations:
1. Nine patch with two colors 2. Simple shading from light to dark of six fabrics (it could be more, if you like) in one color family 3. Simple shading from light to dark in alternating rows of two color families 4. Complete color study as in the sample. The sample uses 6 x 6 pieces of 60 different fabrics (10 color families shaded light to dark).

You would need 1/8 yard of each fabric. There are two sizes of blocks to choose from (2 and 3 ) so not much fabric is needed. It depends on the size quilt you would like to make.
Bring extra fabric to play with.
